Caitlin Clark addressed a back issue that required medical attention during the Indiana Fever's 107-104 loss to the Dallas Wings on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, her first WNBA game since July.
Clark finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 turnovers in just under 30 minutes. She left the bench twice during the game to be checked by the Fever medical staff.
Clark addressed the back issue after the game.
"Just getting my back adjusted," Clark said. "It gets out of line pretty quickly. So, just that just getting my back put back in place a little bit, but other than that, feel great."
Clark missed the second half of the 2025 WNBA season with a series of injuries. She played five games for Team USA in March before returning to the Fever for the 2026 opener. Clark also told reporters she felt good and fast on the court despite some early-game anxiety.
Fever head coach Stephanie White addressed the situation during her postgame availability.
"This is going to be an ongoing thing, not just her," White said. "We've had multiple players who've gone back and get adjusted and make sure that the body's working. Hip alignment gets off, rib alignment gets off and it's part of being a professional athlete. Nothing outside of that. We wouldn't have played her 30 minutes if she wasn't OK."
Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 30 points for the Fever. Aliyah Boston added 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Mitchell missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer that would have tied the game.
Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 22 points. Paige Bueckers and Odyssey Sims scored 20 points each. Azzi Fudd finished with 3 points in her WNBA debut.
The Fever travel to play the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday at Crypto.com Arena.
