A viral clip captures a tense on-court interaction between rivals Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, igniting debate over perceived snubs during Team USA play.

Team USA’s dominant run at the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament delivered another blowout win, but the internet found a different storyline.

During the United States’ 91–48 victory over Puerto Rico, an awkward moment involving Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese quickly went viral.

Midway through the second quarter, Clark checked into the game as Team USA rotated players off the floor. As she made her way onto the court, Clark gave quick high-fives to teammates exiting the game.

However, Reese, who was still on the floor, extended her hand for a high-five as well — but Clark walked past without acknowledging it, leaving the Chicago Sky star briefly hanging.

The clip circulated across social media almost instantly, with fans debating whether the moment was intentional or simply a misunderstanding.

Many viewers suggested Clark likely didn’t see Reese, especially since the Indiana Fever guard was focused on greeting the players being subbed out. Others, however, pointed to the long-running rivalry between the two stars and wondered if the awkward exchange reflected lingering tension.

Regardless of the intent, the moment added another chapter to one of the most talked-about rivalries in women’s basketball.

On the court, the game itself was never in doubt. Team USA cruised past Puerto Rico behind a balanced effort, with Reese posting 10 points and 13 rebounds, the only double-double of the night. Clark added eight points, three rebounds, and two assists, continuing her steady return after missing time earlier in the year with an injury.

The Americans are now 2–0 in the qualifying tournament, having also routed Senegal in the opener.

Still, whenever Clark and Reese share the floor, even as teammates, the spotlight tends to follow.

Their history dates back to the 2023 NCAA national championship, when Reese led LSU to victory over Clark’s Iowa squad and famously used the “You Can’t See Me” taunt late in the game. The moment helped ignite a rivalry that has carried through college, the WNBA, and now international play.

Since then, every interaction between the two has been dissected by fans and media alike.

The high-five moment in Puerto Rico may ultimately amount to nothing more than an awkward timing issue. But with Clark and Reese involved, even the smallest moment tends to spark conversation.

Team USA returns to action Saturday against Italy, where the focus, at least on the court, will once again shift back to basketball.
