This is pretty wild.
After the Indiana Fever beat the Atlanta Dream to snap their two-game losing streak, Caitlin Clark revealed some troubling news.
The Iowa product told reporters that she vomited at halftime.
"I haven't puked that much in a really long time," Clark said. "But then I felt fine. I felt light. So, I was running around feeling good in the second half, but feel OK. Obviously, I'm losing my voice a little bit. But I'll be good."
Clark finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in 31 minutes against the Dream.
It's incredible that she played after throwing up at halftime, but then again, Clark is a fierce competitor.
"You just keep playing," Clark told sideline reporter Kayla Grey about coming back into the game after vomiting. "I love this game, and I'm competitive, and I was going to do anything I could to help this team win."
A two-time All-Star, Clark is averaging 19.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game on the season while shooting 38.7% from the field, 32.3% from beyond the arc and 93.3% from the free-throw line. She played in only 13 games last season due to injuries, so it's taking her some time to get her shooting rhythm back.
Indiana is 5-4 on the season. The win against Atlanta was big to quiet the negativity that has been going on around the Fever.
Sophie Cunningham told local reporters that Indiana had a team meeting on Monday. The team meeting took place after Clark and head coach Stephanie White got into a heated sideline exchange during the Portland Fire game over the weekend.
"I'm gonna say this in the nicest way possible, but hopefully it makes a lot of people just be quiet," Clark said. "And I know there's always gonna be conversation, and I totally respect that, and I always understand that. But the sky's not falling."
Clark was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft after setting the all-time NCAA record for career points at Iowa. She was named Rookie of the Year and is one of the world's most famous athletes.
