Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark believes she's the best transition player in the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark issued a bold statement on Wednesday at Indiana Fever media day.

Clark told reporters that she is the best transition player in the WNBA.

"I'm the best transition player in the league," Clark said. "That's where I thrive. Everyone knows that's my game. So, getting the ball off a rebound in transition, that's probably when I'm going to be a primary ball handler more than anything.

"So, I think there's a lot of different things that can give us a lot of different looks and just make us harder to guard."

Clark played in only 13 games last season because of multiple injuries. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and shot 36.7% from the floor, 27.9% from 3 and 82.0% from the foul line.

The 2024 Rookie of the Year, Clark showed the entire basketball world that she's healthy again during the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament. The point guard was named MVP of the tournament after helping Team USA to a 5-0 record while averaging 11.6 points and a team-high 6.4 assists per game.

To keep Clark's body fresh this season, the Fever will have more players handle the ball instead of making Clark do it all the time.

"It is exhausting, bringing the ball up 94 feet versus pressure every single time," Clark said. "So, we certainly need to find somebody that can handle the ball a little bit and give me a little bit of a break."

Clark enters this season with career averages of 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. With Clark back in the fold, the Fever are championship contenders again.
