Caitlin Clark's life story fuels a children's book promoting effort, support, and chasing "BIG Dreams" with a touch of the "EXTRAordinary."
Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark will publish a children's book based on her life.
Random House Books for Young Readers announced Tuesday that "EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams" will be published on November 3.
In rhyming verse, Clark shares a message about the importance of effort and support.
"Basketball has given me so many incredible opportunities, but what has always meant the most to me are the people who've supported me along the way," Clark said in a statement. "I hope this book reminds kids that they're never alone in chasing their dreams and that giving a little extra to the people and moments is what makes them EXTRAordinary."
Clark, whose book features illustrations by Adriana Predoi, was inspired by an inscription above the mirror that hung in her childhood bedroom: "The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA."
Clark played in only 13 games last season because of multiple injuries. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and shot 36.7% from the floor, 27.9% from 3 and 82.0% from the foul line.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year, Clark showed the entire basketball world that she's healthy again during the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament. The point guard was named MVP of the tournament after helping Team USA to a 5-0 record while averaging 11.6 points and a team-high 6.4 assists per game.
To keep Clark's body fresh this season, the Fever will have more players handle the ball instead of making Clark do it all the time.
"It is exhausting, bringing the ball up 94 feet versus pressure every single time," Clark said. "So, we certainly need to find somebody that can handle the ball a little bit and give me a little bit of a break."
Clark enters this season with career averages of 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks per game. With Clark back in the fold, the Fever are championship contenders again.
