
The Las Vegas Aces beat the Connecticut Sun 98-69 on Wednesday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Chennedy Carter scored 27 off the bench, A'ja Wilson had a double-double.
The Las Vegas Aces outscored the Connecticut Sun 58-34 in the paint and led by as many as 36 points en route to a 98-69 win on Wednesday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Chennedy Carter led all scorers with 27 points off the bench on 13-of-16 shooting. A'ja Wilson posted 22 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jackie Young added 11 points and 6 assists, while Chelsea Gray finished with 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jewell Loyd added 11 points off the bench.
Carter added 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 25 minutes. Wilson shot 8-of-15 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line. Wilson finished with 4 personal fouls and 2 blocks in 20 minutes.
The Aces shot 54.2% from the field and outrebounded the Sun 46-29. Las Vegas scored 48 points off the bench. Cheyenne Parker-Tyus chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. The Aces improved to 2-1 on the season.
Aneesah Morrow led the Sun with 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench for a double-double. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Hailey Van Lith scored 9 points, and Saniya Rivers added 8 points and 4 assists.
The Sun shot 32.9% from the field and 3-of-13 (23.1%) from three-point range, with no player making more than one. Connecticut, whose sale and relocation to Houston was approved by the WNBA earlier Wednesday, fell to 0-3 on the season.
The Aces led 28-19 after the first quarter and 48-37 at halftime. Las Vegas extended its lead to 78-53 with a 30-16 third quarter and outscored the Sun 20-16 in the fourth. The teams traded just two lead changes and were tied four times.
Las Vegas dominated fast-break points 18-2 and second-chance points 22-10. The Aces went 15-of-21 (71.4%) from the free-throw line.
Morrow's 16 points came on 4-of-16 shooting and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. She grabbed 4 offensive rebounds.
The Aces were without guard Dana Evans (left leg) and forward Janiah Barker (concussion protocol).
The Sun was without Brittney Griner (left foot), Aaliyah Edwards (left thigh), and Shey Peddy (lower left leg).
