Angel Reese is shooting only 9.1% from 3 this season.
Lethal Shooter, whose name is Chris Matthews, wants to help Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese become a better shooter.
Matthews is one of the best shooting coaches in the world and has helped several basketball players improve their jumper.
Reese is really struggling with her jumper this season. The two-time All-Star is shooting only 9.1% from 3 and has airballed multiple jumpers.
If Reese can become a better shooter, it would transform her game to another level. She's already an elite rebounder, averaging 11.7 rebounds per game in her first year with the Dream.
Since the WNBA's inaugural season in 1997, Reese is one of four basketball players (including NBA guys) with 50+ double-doubles in her first 75 games and one away from tying Blake Griffin for the most in that span, regardless of league.
Just imagine Reese adding a 3-point game to her repertoire. She would become a superstar.
Reese is averaging 13.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season while shooting 41.7% from the field and 78.0% from the free-throw line. She needs to shoot better from the field moving forward, but otherwise, Reese is playing well in her first year with Atlanta.
To her credit, Reese is working hard on her shooting skills to be more effective on offense.
"I work on it every single day," Reese said. "I know that I'm going to get to the free throw line a lot. Free throws happen, you never know how the game may go, but when I get them, I need to make sure I knock them down."
Reese missed the playoffs during her two years with the Chicago Sky. She will probably make the playoffs this year with the Dream, who avoided a two-game losing streak by beating the Washington Mystics following a loss to the Indiana Fever.
Reese said it was important for Atlanta to win at home.
"You just come back home and protect your house," Reese said. "Obviously, we don't like to lose, and the way we lost wasn't something that we wanted. Everybody took a look in the mirror last game and figured out how we can individually be better for the team."
It will be fascinating to see if Reese connects with Matthews and becomes a better shooter. She should take steps to improve her jumper if she's serious about becoming one of the best players in WNBA history.
