Lexie Brown scored 17 points off the bench on 5-of-6 shooting from 3-point range and the Seattle Storm picked up their first win of the season with an 89-82 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Flau'jae Johnson added 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal. Jade Melbourne had 15 points and 6 assists off the bench. Natisha Hiedeman chipped in 11 points and 3 assists.
The Storm bench combined for 46 of Seattle's 89 points.
Seattle shot 44.3% from the field and went 10-of-22 from 3-point range. The Storm also outscored Connecticut 19-7 in transition.
Aneesah Morrow led Connecticut with 17 points and 16 rebounds in a double-double off the bench. Brittney Griner added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Diamond Miller scored 13 points and Kennedy Burke finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
The Sun, who lost 106-75 to the New York Liberty in their opener Friday, fell to 0-2.
Brown shot 6-of-7 overall and added 1 block in 21 minutes off the bench.
Johnson, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, shot 9-of-10 from the free-throw line in her second career game. The rookie finished 3-of-12 from the field in her debut against the Golden State Valkyries on Friday.
Connecticut led 49-44 at halftime before Seattle outscored the Sun 19-12 in the third quarter to take a 63-61 advantage into the fourth. The Storm pushed the lead to as many as 9 in the final period.
Morrow grabbed 16 rebounds — 13 of them defensive — to go with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 3-of-6 from 3-point range in just over 31 minutes off the bench.
Connecticut shot 39.7% from the field and 8-of-23 from 3-point range. The Sun were without Aaliyah Edwards (left thigh) and Shey Peddy (left leg).
Seattle continued to play without Ezi Magbegor (right foot) and Katie Lou Samuelson (right knee).
