Luka Dončić called himself a Caitlin Clark fan Wednesday night, saying he plans to attend a Fever game after she made a viral appearance as a courtside photographer during the Los Angeles Lakers' 137-130 road win over the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis.
Clark, the Indiana Fever guard coming off a strong showing for Team USA in the FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament earlier this month, shot photos from the baseline at Gainbridge Fieldhouse alongside credentialed media photographers. The images circulated widely on social media.
Dončić, who led all scorers with 43 points on 15-of-30 shooting, was asked about Clark after the win.
"Oh yeah, I did see she was taking pictures," Dončić said, initially joking about the question and referring to Clark as "Caitlin Clark the photographer."
He was then asked whether the two have a relationship.
"Not really much [of a relationship], but I'm a big fan, for sure," Dončić said. "I watch a lot of games. Definitely, her hooping is great to watch. So for sure gotta go to one game to see her."
It is not the first time Dončić has gone out of his way to praise Clark. During her final college season at Iowa, he called her "the women's Steph Curry" and added, "She can shoot it better than me." When Clark was named WNBA Rookie of the Year last season, he recorded a congratulatory video message for her.
"Caitlin, congratulations on an amazing season," Dončić said in the video. "Rookie of the Year is a big honor; you deserve it. Congratulations!"
Dončić has been one of the better players in the NBA over the past month. The win pushed Los Angeles to 10 victories in its last 11 games, with Dončić scoring at least 30 points in each. He now has five 40-point outings over that stretch.
Clark played just 13 games in the 2025 WNBA season due to soft tissue injuries, including a groin issue that kept her out of Indiana's entire playoff run. The Fever reached the WNBA Semifinals before falling to the Las Vegas Aces.
She is fully healthy for the 2026 campaign. Her FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament performance for Team USA earlier this month was an encouraging sign heading into the season.
