Breanna Stewart added 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Pauline Astier finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jonquel Jones had 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Johannes shot 8-of-15 from the field and 6-of-13 from 3-point range.
The Liberty outscored the Mystics 13-8 in overtime after the two teams entered the extra period tied at 85.
Kiki Iriafen led Washington with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Sonia Citron added 17 points and 5 rebounds. Shakira Austin had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Georgia Amoore finished with 7 points and 7 assists.
The Mystics shot 42.5% from the field but just 5-of-26 from 3-point range.
Washington led 31-24 after the first quarter before New York closed the second period on a 31-17 stretch to take a 55-48 lead into halftime. The Mystics rallied with a 21-17 third quarter and trailed 72-69 entering the fourth. The two teams traded the rest of the way before a final tie at 85 forced overtime.
Iriafen recorded her second consecutive game with double-digit rebounds. She had 16 boards in the Mystics' season-opening win at Toronto on Friday.
Stewart shot 9-of-23 from the field and 1-of-4 from 3-point range. She added 2 steals and 2 blocks in nearly 39 minutes. Rebekah Gardner added 9 points off the bench on 4-of-5 shooting.
Astier shot 6-of-10 from the field, 0-of-2 from 3-point range, and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. She added 2 steals.
Sabrina Ionescu, Rebecca Allen, and Satou Sabally did not play for New York. Washington played without Cotie McMahon (left elbow sprain) and Michaela Onyenwere (left knee).
New York shot 47.8% from the field and went 9-of-27 from 3-point range.
