Rookie Olivia Miles had 24 points as the Minnesota Lynx beat the Dallas Wings 100-76 for their eighth straight win and became the first WNBA team to 10 wins.
Rookie Olivia Miles posted 24 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, Kayla McBride added a season-high 22, and the Minnesota Lynx overwhelmed the Dallas Wings 100-76 on Tuesday night for their eighth straight win.
Minnesota (10-2) became the first WNBA team to reach 10 victories this season, and it did so behind a historically efficient night. Natasha Howard scored 21, and she, McBride, and Miles became the first trio in league history to each score at least 20 points while shooting 70% or better from the field in the same game. Howard went 8 of 10, Miles 7 of 10, and McBride 7 of 10.
Courtney Williams added 16 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. McBride made four of Minnesota's seven 3-pointers and handed out five assists.
Minnesota pulled away before halftime. After Dallas led by two early, four Lynx starters reached double figures by the break, with Howard and Miles scoring 14 apiece and McBride and Williams adding 12 each. The Lynx shot 72% from the field in the first half and led 58-38, and the margin later reached 27.
Minnesota did its damage without Napheesa Collier, who has a left ankle injury, as well as Dorka Juhász and Emma Cechova. The starters carried it, scoring 71 of the team's 75 points through three quarters. Williams' basket with 30.7 seconds left pushed the Lynx to 100, the third time they have reached the mark this season.
Paige Bueckers led Dallas (7-4) with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, but also had five turnovers. Arike Ogunbowale added 16 points, six assists, and three steals, while Jessica Shepard scored 12 points and nine rebounds. Azzi Fudd, this year's No. 1 draft pick, scored six on 2-of-12 shooting, and Aziaha James added nine off the bench.
The Wings shot 37.7% from the field and made just 8 of 28 from 3-point range. Dallas won the third quarter 22-17 and trimmed the deficit to 15, but Minnesota answered with a 25-point fourth. The Wings played without Awak Kuier and Odyssey Sims.
The teams combined to make 26 consecutive free throws before a miss with 56.8 seconds left. Miles, who went a perfect 8 of 8 from the line, extended a strong rookie run with her sixth straight game of at least 15 points and five assists, tying Caitlin Clark for the second-longest such streak by a rookie in WNBA history.
The game drew a sellout of 10,907 at Target Center.
Dallas hosts Phoenix on Thursday. Minnesota plays at Las Vegas on Saturday.
