Toronto Tempo All-Star Marina Mabrey will miss the rest of the season with an adductor injury but will not need surgery.

Toronto Tempo All-Star guard Marina Mabrey is out for the rest of the season with an adductor injury, the team announced Sept. 16.

Mabrey will not need surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the team. TSN's Toronto Tempo beat reporter Chelsea Leite reported the news.

Mabrey last played Aug. 18 against the Indiana Fever. Toronto was eliminated from playoff contention Aug. 19 after a loss to the Washington Mystics.

Mabrey Emerged as Toronto's Go-To Scorer

Mabrey has played for five teams since entering the WNBA, but the Tempo gave her the opportunity to become a go-to option.

Mabrey averaged 29.5 minutes and started all 32 games she played. On a first-year roster, she emerged as one of Toronto's primary scoring options.

Guard Brittney Sykes was a strong backcourt partner for Mabrey when both players were healthy. Sykes was ruled out for the rest of the season Aug. 23 after previously returning from a foot injury.

Tempo Begin Looking Toward Second Season

Toronto will miss the playoffs in its inaugural season, but that is common for expansion teams. The Golden State Valkyries are the only franchise to reach the postseason in their first WNBA season.

The announcement on Mabrey was not unexpected. She had not played in nearly a month.

This season, Mabrey is averaging a career-high 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 38.5% from 3-point range.

Toronto selected Mabrey sixth overall in the 2026 WNBA expansion draft, and she signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract under the new collective bargaining agreement.

Toronto's next game is Friday, Sept. 18, against the Indiana Fever.
