Stroud's practice return offers hope, but his Thursday Night Football status remains OUT. Will Davis Mills continue his winning streak?

Earlier today, Texans fans got a surprise. Houston QB CJ Stroud returned to practice today, although his status for Thursday Night was still up in the air. After practice, coach Demeco Ryans followed up that exciting scene with bad news, as he officially declared Stroud out for Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills.

This development is still good news, nonetheless, as Stroud has missed the last two weeks with a concussion sustained against the Denver Broncos in week nine. That's the type of injury that simply takes time to overcome, and the short turnaround to a Thursday night game made it difficult. Had the Texans been scheduled to play on Sunday of this week, perhaps the story would be different.

Backup Davis Mills has started in his place, going 2-0 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. Though neither game was convincing, he has proven to do enough offensively to get a pair of wins, backed by the dominant Texans defense on the other side of the ball.

Do you think Houston's chances against Buffalo would have increased dramatically if Stroud were able to go? Or does Mills give them a better shot due to preparation time and increased confidence due to his last two victories?

Perhaps Mills being behind center on Thursday isn't all bad. He at least has the momentum behind him. For now, we'll have to wait until Week 13 against the Indianapolis Colts to see Stroud back in game action.
