CriC TalKBishnoi was at his best during the recent series whereby he emerged superior after being the top spinner. The fact that Rinku could convert effectively became an advantage which helped him stay in the starting eleven.
Still, uncertainty of Avesh and Arshdeep on the international front highlighted the importance of consistency, while the perfection and precision of Mukesh Kumar’s line, length, and ability of delivering yorkers proved a better argument for his supremacy in the team.
It is interesting that despite having the opportunity such versatile players as Jaiswal, Tilak and Iyer who can bowl decently too, the team still lacked the viable replacement for an additional bowler in the sixth place for the entire series. It became an issue when the team’s batting depth was concerned because there is no lengthy tail in T20 cricket. The leader in SKY showed great promise by handling a b-team well and having good relations with the youngsters. Despite those limits, he demonstrated the capacity for advancement and the ability to learn even more about being a good leader in particular. And it came down again as another expected bilateral win that confirmed the same belief.
Nonetheless, this brought up doubts whether they relied on the presumed results rather than engaging competitions. In other words, although some shows were promising, overall, the Series served a purpose by highlighting areas that needed improvement.
Considerations need to be made immediately regarding consistency in team selection, strengthening the bowling unit, and bolstering the batting lineup so that future teams have a better balance and stand a chance.Dec 4, 2023
CriC TalKPakistan Chief Selector Wahab Riaz on Monday revealed that pacer Haris Rauf won’t be available for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
"We spoke to the captain and coach, and they wanted to utilise Haris Rauf as an impact player in Test cricket. We weren't demanding more than 10-12 overs a day from him, which he has done in ODIs.
SOURCE
Expecting a frontline bowler to bowl merely 10 overs in an entire day's play seems a bit unrealistic, right? The big question arises - where do the remaining 80 overs come from? If you're fielding five specialized bowlers, spreading the workload evenly among them at around 20 overs each might seem feasible. However, this approach might thin down the batting order, posing a challenge.
Now, imagine having an all-rounder or a part-time bowler take on 20 overs in a day. That's a considerable workload, and it could reduce the pressure on the batsmen, potentially impacting the outcome of the game. Even with a strategy of four bowlers, if two seamers shoulder 20 overs each, that leaves 60 overs for spinners on surfaces that aren't particularly spin-friendly.
No matter how you analyze it, limiting Rauf to 10 overs a day burdens the lineup excessively. While if he were someone like Mark Wood, known for swiftly dismantling opponents within a short spell, maybe it could be deemed worthwhile. However, Rauf's track record doesn't quite match up to that level of impact. It's disheartening when a player pulls out of a test series, especially when it seems linked to concerns about potential injury and missing in T20 leagues.
Efficiently managing a bowler's workload is pivotal in cricket, ensuring both performance and player well-being. Striking the right balance between bowling strengths and lineup dynamics is crucial for a team's success.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THIS DECISION FROM RAUF???Nov 21, 2023

CriC TalKWhat I like about Anderson is that he's managed to stay very fit to bowl many overs even at his age, and his bowling quality hasn't decreased. He has shown incredible consistency, and cricket will miss him when he retires. Jimmy made his test debut in May 2003, a year before Strauss. Strauss played 100 test matches for England before retiring in August 2012, which was 11 years ago. Jimmy is still playing.
SOURCE
During the Ashes, Anderson had some spells where he was unlucky not to get wickets. His numbers could have been better with a bit of luck, but his bowling wasn't bad even in challenging conditions. He doesn't seem finished yet.
The English attack lacked variety in speed when Anderson, Robinson, and Broad were leading. With Broad retiring, they need someone who can consistently bowl at a faster pace like 90mph. England needs pace because their attack was too predictable earlier.
I think he might retire in the next English summer. India is tough for fast bowlers, and Jimmy's chances for a successful tour there are low. He would prefer ending his career on a high note.
Overseas quicks have struggled a lot, and only Indian fast bowlers have found success on Indian surfaces recently.
When do you think Anderson will retire?Aug 2, 2023

CriC TalKWhat a fantastic display of bowling by Mark Wood! His extreme speed and ability to move the ball made it an exciting Test match. In just 11.4 overs, he managed to take 5 wickets while conceding only 34 runs and keeping 4 maiden overs.
Right from his first delivery, Wood grabbed everyone's attention. Many of us were left wondering why he hadn't been selected sooner, given how deadly he can be. He invests too much energy on every delivery, yet, and I fear that this could wear him out or even injury him. His presence last night added plenty of energy to the game, so it could be an awful thing if that happened.
Wood is truly terrifying when he plays at Headingley. I can only imagine how he would perform at venues like the Gabba or WACA.
For England's success, they should prepare pitches that favor fast bowlers like Wood, Anderson, Broad, and even Robinson. It surprises me when they create flat pitches when everyone knows Australia has the upper hand in batting.
After the tea break, Wood took an incredible 4 wickets, giving away only 5 runs in just 2.4 overs. It was absolutely electrifying!
I have no doubt that without Woakes and Wood, Australia would have probably scored around 400 runs.

CriC TalKThe Ashes is a test of skill and temperament for ENG and AUS players. It has been most awaited Test series Winning the Ashes brings prode, while losing earns a reputation as a team that couldn't perform on the big stage.

Here's are few interesting points for this year's Ashes
1. Injuries - Test for the players from both teams.:
This year's Ashes is happening earlier in the summer and in a shorter time frame. Players may have to play Test Matches with very low rest days. Fast bowlers like Jimmy Anderson and Pat Cummins will be under pressure because there won't be a lot of rest between the second and third test and the fourth and fifth test. The batsmans of both teams will be used to wear down the opposition. It's important for the bowlers to stay fit and avoid injuries.
England is facing an injury crisis with key players like Jofra Archer and Ollie Stone out. Mark Wood's fitness is also a concern. England's fast bowling options are limited, and they may have to rely on experienced players like Stuart Broad and James Anderson.
2. Conditions and style of play:
England wants flat pitches to dominate the Australian attack with their aggressive style of play. In the past, England focused on creating conditions favorable for their seam attack. But the weather in the UK has been warm, and we may not see the traditional green tops. However, England's bowling attack has shown that they can take wickets even on flat pitches.
Australia's key batsmen, Smith and Labuschagne, may struggle to match England's scoring rate. Although other teams have improved their run rates in Test matches, England has had success with their attacking play. It will be interesting to watch if Australia attempts to match England's rate of scoring or remains with their regular approach.
3.Players to watch for and key head to heads:
Opening in England is tough, as seen in the last Ashes series. David Warner and Usman Khawaja had poor performances. Warner will be determined to score a Test century in England. England's Ben Duckett has the chance to prove himself in his first Ashes series.
England's top 3 batsmen may struggle against Australia's seam attack. There are concerns about Duckett, Crawley, and Pope's ability to perform at the international level. Stokes is a key player for England, but his fitness and ability to bowl are in question. Australia has the advantage of balancing their team with an all-rounder like Cameron Green.
Josh Hazlewood's injury concerns have given a chance to Scott Boland, who has been consistent for Australia. England will try to put pressure on Boland and disrupt his rhythm. Pat Cummins, as captain and leader of the Australian attack, will face his biggest challenge yet.
Spin options will also play a role in the series. England lost Jack Leach to injury, which is a blow to their preparations. The improvement in England's spin bowling has been significant, and they will have to find a replacement for Leach.

Overall, the Ashes series promises to be exciting and may have some close finishes.Jun 16, 2023
CriC TalKAccording to a report in PTI, the veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and pacer Umesh Yadav There is no possibility of making a place in the Test team on the West Indies tour. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar are in the running to replace the experienced duo
If India wants to succeed, they need to make big changes to their top-order players. They've been playing Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane for the past few years instead of finding new talented players. Replacing KL Rahul, who hasn't performed well in test cricket, took a long time.
Shami, Siraj, Ashwin, and Jadeja are all playing well, so there's no doubt about their positions in the team.
Bharat is currently keeping wickets until Pant recovers. He is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in India. I think the BCCI knows this and will make sure Pant recovers completely before giving him the workload in all formats.
Rohit and Kohli's performances are inconsistent. Kohli scored the most runs for India in the recent WTC cycle, but his average suggests he wasn't consistent.
Rohit's performance can vary a lot, so it's hard to predict how he will do.
Gill is still young, and I believe he should be given the No. 3 or 4 position. He needs time to get used to Test cricket.
What is your opinion on dropping only these two? Jun 14, 2023
