IPL franchises are trying to convince England players to quit international cricket

Owners of top IPL franchises are trying to convince as many as six premier England players to quit international cricket and take up handsome annual contracts ranging up to 5 million pounds in order to play T20 leagues round the year, the 'Times London' reported.

MY THAUGHTS:

International cricket might look like football more in the future. As a result, players will primarily compete for their clubs, with rare international competition and major competitions like the ODI or T20 World Cups every four years. T20 and ODI matches might benefit from this, but Test matches won't, as there won't be enough time to complete a series.

This is something the ECB and county teams have been doing for years to get players from abroad to play for their clubs. The ECB shouldn't object if its players choose better pay over international cricket if they are free to opt to leave their international teams to play for county or club cricket and earn higher salaries. The time has come for the change?
