It's almost become a tradition now - every year, as IPL fever grips the nation, fans and experts alike start fretting about the toll it will take on players. And every year, those fears are validated as players get injured, fatigued, and mentally drained after weeks of non-stop cricket.
But what's even more frustrating is the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) handles the situation. They're quick to rest key players during international tours, citing workload management, but when it comes to the IPL, it's all systems go. Players are allowed to play for two months straight, with little regard for their physical or mental health.
And while the IPL is undoubtedly a cash cow for the BCCI, it's hurting India's chances internationally. As players struggle to recover from the grueling IPL season, they're often not at their best for high-profile events like the World Test Championship final.
So what does India's playing XI look like now? With key players resting, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The Super Kings' approach of setting a solid foundation and then piling on the pressure has proven to be successful for them.
KKR has made several changes to their top-order batting in recent matches, but their woeful performance continues to be a concern. Jason Roy made a decent debut for the franchise, but KKR will need him to continue his good form if they are to rescue their season. In contrast, CSK has MS Dhoni, who is a formidable wicketkeeper even at 41 years old. The Knight Riders' wicket-keeping options seem less capable than their opponents.

However, he endured a hostile passage of powerplay bowling, where the opposition was swinging the ball like it was a test match in England. Samson showed his mettle and survived the onslaught with a commendable showcase of mental strength and belief.
What made Samson's innings even more special was the psychological warfare that took place in the middle when Hardik was bowling. There was a bit of captain vs captain thing going on there, but Samson held his ground and threw counter punches. This earned him a ton of respect from his opponents and fans alike.
Furthermore, Samson's innings was a textbook definition of how an anchor should perform. He held on when wickets fell and changed gears when the asking rate went up. His three sixes off Rashid were Chef's kiss and truly showed his class as a batsman.

He took down many famous Indian batsmen with his cutters and slowers, enabling Bangladesh to win their first ODI series against India. In that three-match ODI series, he set a record by picking up 12+ wickets, making him the talk of the cricket world.
He was quickly recognized and invited to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the same year. Sunrisers Hyderabad added him to their team, and he proved his worth by becoming the only foreign player to win the Best Emerging Player award in the IPL. He contributed significantly to Sunrisers Hyderabad's first IPL title win.
Unfortunately, an injury hampered his progress, and he returned to the field after three months of struggling with injuries. However, his performance and bowling action changed, and he lost the power and influence he once had. As a result, his career began to decline, and he was dropped from the Bangladesh team due to poor performance. His IPL career also took a hit, and he currently plays for the Delhi Capitals.
