Gulliver's Travels (2010)
(Family/Comedy)

Note that there are no insignificant tasks, only insignificant people, specifically, very small ones. In an attempt to impress his office crush, a mailroom worker named Gulliver pretends to have a exciting job, which gets him sent to Bermuda to write a travel article.
However, a sudden change in the weather causes his boat to capsize, and he finds himself in the diminutive land of Lilliput. Critics panned this film when it was released in 2010.

Although I saw it in the cinema, I quickly forgot about it.
However, I recently rewatched it on Blu-ray 3D and found it to be unexpectedly amusing. It's not a masterpiece by any means, but it's far from terrible and offers a pleasant, laid-back viewing experience.

Although the cast includes many big-name stars, the acting is not equally impressive. Nevertheless, the humor is light-hearted and somewhat predictable, but it did manage to make me chuckle a few times.
I particularly enjoyed the special effects, which use traditional techniques to portray an oversized Jack Black. The result is reminiscent of old Hollywood action-adventure films.

Unfortunately, the story is quite forgettable. Although I found the opening sequence and the exchanges between Black and TJ Miller amusing, the rest of the film is generic and lacks luster.
However, I was able to overlook the absurdity of the idea that the tiny residents of Lilliput could accommodate a giant-sized character like Jack Black's and construct furniture for him with ease. The 3D effects were minimal, apart from the opening credits which featured a stop-motion miniature city and had some depth. Everything that followed was mostly flat.

I strongly disliked the musical number at the end of the film, which felt out of place and lacked humor. I question the decision-making process that led to the inclusion of a poorly executed all-cast musical performance of 'War'.
Moreover, the talent of Billy Connolly, one of the greatest comedians, was underutilized with no funny lines. In conclusion, while the movie has its funny moments and is not as poor as some reviews suggest, it is ultimately forgettable and underwhelming.
The all-star cast was not utilized to its full potential, and the acting was sub-par. Nonetheless, it's not the worst film I've seen from Jack Black, but there's not much to recommend here.
