Now that Thibaut Courtois is injured, the focus within Real Madrid returns to the goalkeeper position once again. The club from Chamartin is once again setting its sights on another goalkeeper for the future.
The club is always working toward the future, continuing to strengthen its squad. Real Madrid is seeking solutions of all kinds, as we know, with hopes for the future on many fronts. But they have now surprised us with a new, clear target.
The Merengue side is always working with a long-term perspective. Journalist Hernan Castillo, on the program Love Stream, has now spoken about an unexpected target on the radar of the Chamartin side: goalkeeper Santiago Beltran.
“Real Madrid is seriously following Santiago Beltran. There is serious interest. They have already contacted his entourage,” said the journalist. He is a 21-year-old goalkeeper who is beginning to make a difference at River Plate, where he is excelling.
Additionally, this comes at an interesting time, with Thibaut Courtois injured and Andriy Lunin tasked with replacing him for a month and a half. This means that, as we know, Real Madrid continues to look to the future with the pursuit of this goalkeeper.
Unlike other eras when Madrid would go out to buy the trendy goalkeeper (as happened with Keylor or Kepa), the interest in promoting or securing Santiago Beltran speaks very well of the work of Luis Llopis, the first-team goalkeeping coach. Llopis has very detailed reports on his ability to handle pressure, something vital for playing at the Bernabeu.
It is rumored that the club wants to prevent Premier League teams, or even those from the Bundesliga, who are always hunting for talent in Spain, from taking him away. Madrid’s strategy is usually to renew with a prohibitive release clause or ensure his progression by giving him minutes in Copa del Rey matches.
Beltran has demonstrated immense composure for someone his age at River, as he not only has good reflexes but also plays with his feet in a way that fits perfectly with the type of goalkeeper Arbeloa would look for, making him a priority target for the future.
