Former Oregon Ducks linebacker Bryce Boettcher is going to make an NFL franchise very happy in a couple of months. On Wednesday, he revealed two teams, two of the teams that he met with to start his NFL Draft Combine process.
No one is going to mistake Boettcher's game for Luke Kuechly or Brian Urlacher, but whichever team he is selected by, he will make an impact whenever he can get on the field.
On Wednesday, he made two pretty significant revelations about his future, both in the near and short term. He made it known and very clear that he has put his baseball dreams on hold to pursue a career in the NFL and, specifically, win a Super Bowl.
Then, later on in his interview, he revealed two franchises that he formally met with at the start of his NFL Combine experience.
He said that he met with both the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. When asked how they went, he responded with, "[They went] good, you know, talking football, ultimately talking what my upbringing was and what leadership skills I can help out with... Talked X's and O's and what my knowledge of the game is."
Both of those organizations would be an incredible result for Boettcher, who said that he is trying to win a Super Bowl.
The Eagles are still in that Super Bowl window, and he would be able to learn and develop on a defense that has one of the best defensive lines in the entire country.
The other option, the San Francisco 49ers, would be an equally great spot for Boettcher to land, as he can again develop in one of the best NFL franchises on a team that is always going to be in the mix, no matter what.
There were other rumors floating around that he met with the Denver Broncos and the Pittsburgh Steelers, two other programs that would be an incredible fit for the young linebacker.
Regardless of where he ends up, Boettcher is going to add a lot of value to any team. He is a guy with incredible character, unbelievable athletic ability, and a level of compete that is rare.
He was the leader of Oregon's defense and the heartbeat of Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks. That leadership will carry to the NFL, and he will be a positive fit, wherever he lands.
