Undefeated stars Xander Zayas and Jaron Ennis collide in Brooklyn, with both champions confident they'll leave as boxing's top 154-pounder.
The anticipation continues to build ahead of Saturday night's highly anticipated junior middleweight unification clash between unbeaten champions Xander Zayas and Jaron "Boots" Ennis at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Matchroom Boxing and Top Rank co-promotion will see Zayas defend his WBO and WBA titles against Ennis, who is looking to become a unified world champion in a second weight division. With both fighters undefeated and carrying a combined record of 58-0, the bout has been billed as one of the biggest fights of 2026.
Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn believes fans are about to witness a special night.
"Unquestionably, fight of the year…event of the year," said Hearn. "This whole arena – Barclays Center – will be completely full to watch what boxing is all about. The unified world championship between two young, undefeated fighters."
Ennis enters the contest with a perfect 35-0 record, including 31 knockouts, after dominating the welterweight division before moving up to 154 pounds. In his first appearance at junior middleweight, the Philadelphia native stopped Uisma Lima in the opening round to capture the interim WBA title, setting up Saturday's unification opportunity.
The 28-year-old has shown no signs of nerves during fight week, insisting his preparation has left him ready to perform on the biggest stage.
"I'm feeling great, I'm feeling tremendous," Ennis said. "It's been a lot of work, but I'm trying to have some fun, put on a beautiful show, and make it easy work come Saturday night."

Ennis also dismissed any concern over what style Zayas may bring into the ring, expressing confidence that his training camp has prepared him for every possible scenario.
"To be honest, I don't care how he fights. It doesn't matter what he does, we are ready for anything. We've hit every style in camp, so whatever he wants to do, we can do it."
Standing across the ring will be one of boxing's brightest young stars. At just 23 years old, Zayas has already established himself as the first Puerto Rican to unify the junior middleweight division. He claimed the WBO championship before adding the WBA belt with a split-decision victory over Abass Baraou earlier this year.
While many observers view the matchup as a 50-50 contest, Zayas remains convinced he has the tools to hand Ennis his first professional defeat.
"I think he's a great fighter, I've always said it, but on Saturday night I am going to prove that I am better than him," Zayas said.
Beyond the main event, the card features several intriguing bouts, including Emiliano Vargas taking on Bryce Mills, Ben Whittaker facing Richie Rivera, and Jahi Tucker meeting Euri Cedeno, making it one of the strongest fight cards of the year.
With world titles, unbeaten records and divisional supremacy all on the line, Saturday's showdown promises to answer one of boxing's biggest questions: will Ennis announce himself as boxing's newest two-division king, or will Zayas continue his rise as the sport's next Puerto Rican superstar?
By the time the final bell rings inside Barclays Center, one undefeated record will remain—and one fighter will take another major step toward becoming one of boxing's elite.
