What are the FiA's extreme heat protocols?

The Austrian GP is expected to be one of the hottest races of the year.

According to the weather forecast, temperatures will range from 30 to 35 degrees Celsius at the Red Bull Ring this weekend.

The FIA will implement several measures to protect drivers and help maintain safe core temperatures in the cockpit.

Since cockpit temperatures can exceed 50 degrees during the race, each car must be equipped with a driver-cooling system. This increases the car's overall weight, so engineering teams must adjust their setups accordingly.
