The Argentine stops at turn 14 during the fourth lap due to a problem in the energy storage system.

Franco Colapinto experienced a bittersweet Saturday at the Singapore Grand Prix, the Argentine Alpine driver was forced to abandon the Sprint race when barely four laps were being disputed, due to a problem in the energy storage system of his car. The incident occurred at turn 14 while Colapinto was traveling behind the safety car and left the Argentine without the opportunity to take advantage of a day that was presenting itself as promising.

"A shame, obviously... A problem with the car unrelated to us, we'll see exactly what it is. A shame because it was a good opportunity, now we will try to fix it and come back in quali, without the Sprint Race laps. Hopefully we can make a couple of good changes" Colapinto declared in the subsequent press conference. The Argentine driver who had started carefully on a track wet from the rain, stayed out of trouble in the first stages and avoided a new incident with Pierre Gasly, giving up distance so as not to risk, however the mechanical failure ended any possibility of coming back.

The first analyses point to an electrical problem, the videos of the situation show how the car lost power suddenly and the onboard camera captured the moment when Colapinto "nods" due to the loss of energy. Furthermore the car stopped transmitting data to the team, which will force the engineers to recover the information to determine precisely the origin of the failure, Alpine officially confirmed that the problem was centered on the energy storage system of car 43 and that the component will be replaced by another from the team's stocks before qualifying, without penalty.

The delay in the start of qualifying due to weather issues played in favor of Colapinto and Alpine, which were able to make the necessary changes to the battery and some engine components to avoid greater problems, the team will continue investigating the cause of the failure, but for now, the Argentine will be able to return to track without consequences in his starting position.

The retirement represents a new blow for Colapinto after Friday's day, where he had been just 0.094 seconds from the fight for pole position in the Sprint qualifying, that expectation could not be sustained during the short race and now the focus will be on the main qualifying. Alpine will have to solve the damage and review the car's functioning before the Argentine goes out on track again, with the possibility of making adjustments after having been left without completing the Sprint.

Despite the setback, Colapinto keeps his morale high and trusts in being able to recover the pace in qualifying, the Argentine knows that Marina Bay is a demanding circuit where precision and tire management are key and where any mistake is paid dearly. His objective is clear: to leave behind the retirement, find the best possible configuration and fight for a good result in Sunday's race.

Alpine, for its part, continues working to maximize the potential of the A526 and score valuable points in the fight for the constructors' championship.
