With a $300 million budget, a $631 million box office run, and four Oscar nominations, the F1 film has become a historic success. Checo Pérez, one of the drivers with the most on-screen appearances, now shares the spotlight with Hollywood’s elite.

F1, the film featuring appearances by Sergio Pérez, received four Oscar nominations.

The F1 film has been recognized with four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, following the announcement of the nominees for the 98th Academy Awards last Thursday.

Nine nominations out of 24 categories were officially confirmed in the last few hours, with the remaining fifteen announced shortly thereafter. The epic directed by Joseph Kosinski, starring Brad Pitt and produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, has been recognized in four categories, including the coveted Best Picture.

The film will compete against acclaimed titles such as "Marty Supreme," "Frankenstein," "One Battle After Another," and "Sinners." With a budget of around $300 million, this feature film marked Apple's first genuine foray into the world of Formula 1.

In addition, the tech giant has invested $750 million to secure broadcasting rights in the United States for the next five years. After its theatrical release in late June 2025, the film grossed just over $631 million, ranking as the ninth highest-grossing production of the year.

With Hamilton supporting the production behind the scenes, it was Brad Pitt who took on the lead role as Sonny Hayes, a driver in his sixties who joins the APXGP team.

Damson Idris played Joshua Pearce, a talented youngster from the British team. The central female figure is Kerry Condon, APXGP's race director, while Javier Bardem brought the team owner to life.

Although Checo is not among the actors, he is one of the most frequently appearing drivers on the F1 grid, giving him greater credibility and weight in the story.

This recognition not only confirms the cultural impact the film has had both inside and outside the world of motorsport, but also reflects Hollywood's growing interest in sports stories with global reach. For Formula 1, these nominations represent an unbeatable showcase for new audiences, while for drivers like Checo Pérez, they mean unprecedented media exposure that transcends the racetrack and positions him as a key figure in this new era of spectacle and sport.
