Ollie Bearman made his future clear: "I want to continue with Haas" in 2027, though he admitted the decision is "not really in my hands."

Ollie Bearman has made his future clear: the British driver wants to continue at Haas in 2027, and he stated this in the preview of the Mexico Grand Prix. However, the American team's lack of an official announcement suggests the situation is more complex than it seems; the paradox of a driver who wants to stay but whose continuity depends on factors beyond his control defines the moment the North American team is going through.

"I think it is very clear that I want to continue with Haas, and that is definitely my objective. There are some things in the background that we are working on, but it has been very clear that continuing with Haas will be my objective, and we are just finalizing some things on that front," Bearman declared at Thursday's press conference in Mexico City.

The Briton who arrived at Haas in 2025 after his time in the Ferrari academy has been one of the few positive notes in a complicated season for the team. With 23 points, he sits in 13th place in the drivers' championship, 16 points ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon, and arrived in Mexico, where he posted his best Formula 1 result with a fourth-place finish. His performance has been solid, but it hasn't been enough for Haas to close his renewal.

When asked when his continuity would be announced, Bearman was sincere: "I don't know, to be honest; it is not really in my hands, I can tell you that. If it depended on me, it would have been announced a long time ago, but there are some bigger things that we are working on," a response that reflects the frustration of a driver who sees how his future is decided in other people's offices, far from the track.

While Bearman waits, Ocon has already set course for other horizons. The Frenchman, who will be out of Haas in 2027 after Rafael Câmara arrives, has confirmed he is still negotiating with several teams to stay on the grid. The Cadillac seat alongside Sergio Pérez is one of the options being considered: "I am not really going to comment on the discussions I have had with the teams in general. Of course, we are talking with many people on the grid right now. I feel I have unfinished business in F1. I am still very young; I still have many things to achieve, and that is where I want to be in the future," Ocon noted.

Both drivers' situations reflect the harshness of the Formula 1 market: one waits for a call confirming his continuity, while the other desperately seeks an opportunity to keep competing. Haas, for its part, must define its lineup as soon as possible to focus on preparing for the next season.

With Câmara confirmed, the team needs to close Bearman's continuity to lock in a duo and start work on the 2027 car. Time is running out, and the Briton's patience may be wearing thin.
