Austin Hitt wins the Korn Ferry Tour Championship to earn his PGA Tour card, while 19-year-old Blades Brown makes history among 20 graduates headed to the big stage.
Austin Hitt saved his best golf for the moment that mattered most, winning the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Sunday and punching his ticket to the PGA Tour alongside 19 other players who earned their cards for the 2027 season.
But while Hitt collected the trophy, 19-year-old Blades Brown walked away with a piece of golf history.
Hitt fired a final-round 5-under 66 at The Federal Club, finishing at 20-under 264 to defeat Brown by two strokes.
The victory was his first on the Korn Ferry Tour and delivered a remarkable turnaround for a player who entered the season finale ranked 22nd in the points standings.
He finished sixth.
"Even all the way until the end I tried to trick myself that I wouldn't make it until I won," Hitt said afterward.
The former North Carolina standout also collected $270,000 for the victory, completing a breakthrough season that included a runner-up finish at the AdventHealth Championship and a tie for fourth at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.
Brown, meanwhile, had his own reasons to celebrate.
At 19 years, four months and 20 days old, the Tennessee native became the youngest player ever to graduate from the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA Tour, breaking the record Jason Day established in 2007.
Brown finished runner-up at 18-under 266, securing ninth place in the season-long standings. His rapid rise comes after turning professional at just 17 rather than pursuing college golf.
The championship also produced some last-minute drama for Davis Lamb, who entered the tournament outside the coveted top 20.
Lamb birdied three of his final five holes Sunday, shooting a 3-under 68 and finishing eighth in the tournament to claim the final available PGA Tour card.
At the top of the graduating class, Ross Steelman finished No. 1 in the Korn Ferry Tour standings following a season featuring two victories and six top-five finishes.
Steelman's reward includes exemptions into the 2027 Players Championship and U.S. Open.
Scotland's Sandy Scott finished second in the standings, followed by Ian Holt, Alistair Docherty and Alvaro Ortiz.
Other notable graduates include former Texas standout Tommy Morrison, Baylor product Cooper Dossey and former PGA Tour regular Doc Redman.
Of the 20 graduates, 16 will be PGA Tour rookies next season, reflecting an incoming class loaded with emerging talent.
Their next challenge begins January 21 at The American Express, the opening event of the 2027 PGA Tour season.
For Hitt, Brown and the rest of the graduating class, years of work have finally paid off.
Now comes the hard part: proving they belong among golf's best.
