Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick birdied the 72nd hole to win the Zurich Classic, giving Alex full PGA Tour status.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex Fitzpatrick turned the Zurich Classic into a family milestone Sunday, winning the PGA Tour’s lone team event with a clutch birdie on the final hole at TPC Louisiana.

The English brothers finished at 31-under, one shot ahead of Kristoffer Reitan and Kris Ventura, plus Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer.

For Matt, it was his third PGA Tour win of the season and second victory in as many weeks after claiming the RBC Heritage. For Alex, it was career-changing.

The younger Fitzpatrick earned a two-year PGA Tour exemption, entry into the remaining 2026 signature events, a spot in next month’s PGA Championship and an invitation to the 2027 Players Championship.

The win wasn’t easy. The Fitzpatricks entered Sunday with a four-shot lead after a record 15-under 57 on Saturday, but the final round got tense fast.

Ventura and Reitan surged with three eagles, including one at No. 18, to post 30-under. Smalley and Springer also reached 30-under after a late birdie, though a costly three-putt bogey on No. 17 kept them from taking the lead.

Meanwhile, Matt and Alex slipped from 33-under to 30-under during a shaky back nine that included a double bogey at No. 12. Still, they never fully gave away control.

On the par-5 18th, the brothers reached greenside in two. Matt played a brilliant chip to 14 inches, leaving Alex to tap in the winning putt and secure the biggest moment of his career.

It was a dramatic finish, but also a fitting one. Matt stayed red-hot, Alex earned his PGA Tour future, and the Fitzpatrick brothers left New Orleans with a win they’ll never forget.
