Joey Savoie wins the Dominican Republic Tour Championship to earn a 2027 Korn Ferry Tour card, while Thomas Ponder claims the PGA Tour Americas season points title.

Joey Savoie entered the final tournament of the PGA Tour Americas season facing a simple reality: If he wanted to reach the Korn Ferry Tour, he needed something special.

The Canadian delivered exactly that.

Savoie fired a final-round 5-under 67 Sunday to win the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank, finishing at 14 under and securing one of 10 coveted Korn Ferry Tour cards for the 2027 season.

The 32-year-old began the week ranked 12th in the season-long standings but climbed to fourth with his second victory of 2026.

It was a remarkable finish for a player who had struggled with injuries and inconsistent results throughout his professional career.

“It's been an amazing year, capping off with a win here, win in Ecuador,” Savoie said.

His victory came after playing his final 45 holes without a bogey. A birdie on the par-5 18th secured the clubhouse lead, and Charlie Crockett couldn't catch him, settling for a runner-up finish one stroke behind.

Savoie's triumph also highlighted a successful season for Canadian golf, with fellow countryman Étienne Papineau finishing third in the points standings.

Both players won twice during the season.

But the biggest season-long achievement belonged to Thomas Ponder.

The 25-year-old Alabama graduate finished atop the 2026 PGA Tour Americas Points List, earning Korn Ferry Tour membership for the first time.

Ponder captured the Explore NB Open in July and maintained his position at No. 1 for the remainder of the season. He added third-place finishes in Ottawa and at the Osprey Valley Open before closing with a tie for 13th in the Dominican Republic.

Corey Pereira finished second in the standings after producing six top-five finishes and the tour's best scoring average at 67.57.

Patrick Flavin completed the top five, followed by Crockett, Justin Biwer, Jack Lundin, Charlie Nikitas and Patrick Sheehan.

Sheehan claimed the final promotion position after finishing tied for eighth Sunday.

Seven of the 10 graduates will be Korn Ferry Tour rookies next season, illustrating how effectively PGA Tour Americas is developing emerging professional talent.

For Savoie, the accomplishment carries additional meaning after years of dealing with arthritis.

“I'm well surrounded, finally healthy and I own my arthritis problem,” he said.

The victory also completed an impressive turnaround after an eight-year drought between recognized tournament victories ended with his win in Ecuador in May.

For all 10 graduates, the next challenge is considerably bigger.

The Korn Ferry Tour represents the final developmental step toward earning a PGA Tour card.

And after Sunday's dramatic finish, 10 players are officially one step closer to realizing that dream.
