Jon Rahm closed with a 64 to win LIV Golf Mexico City by six shots, capping a turbulent week with a statement victory and team title for Legion XIII.
Jon Rahm turned a noisy, uneasy week in Mexico City into a runaway win on Sunday, firing a bogey-free 7-under 64 to capture LIV Golf Mexico City by six shots at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
The victory was Rahm’s second individual LIV title of 2026, and it came with authority as he finished at 21-under, well clear of runner-up David Puig at 15-under.
Legion XIII also claimed the team title, giving Rahm an even bigger statement week.
The final round didn’t leave much suspense. Rahm quickly took control with a birdie at the reachable par-4 second, then blew the tournament open with an eagle on the next hole.
From there, he never gave the field a real opening. After a disappointing tie for 38th at the Masters just one week earlier, Rahm’s response in Mexico showed exactly why he remains one of the most dangerous players in the world.
The win also came during a turbulent stretch for LIV Golf. Reports about the league’s financial future swirled during the week, a local power outage disrupted streaming during the opening round, and Bryson DeChambeau withdrew before Sunday’s final round because of wrist discomfort.
LIV also announced that Chapultepec will return to the schedule in 2027, adding another headline to an already chaotic event.
Puig’s runner-up finish carried plenty of significance, too. The Spaniard shot 66 on Sunday and strengthened his case for a PGA Championship berth, while also improving his position in the race for a U.S. Open spot.
For Rahm, though, this week was about more than points or noise. It was a reminder that when his game clicks, he can still make elite competition look ordinary.
