Matt Fitzpatrick won $3.6 million after beating Scottie Scheffler in a playoff at the 2026 RBC Heritage, where a $20 million purse was on the line.
Matt Fitzpatrick turned the 2026 RBC Heritage into a massive payday on Sunday, winning the PGA Tour signature event at Harbour Town Golf Links and cashing the $3.6 million first-place prize after a playoff victory over Scottie Scheffler.
The win came from a $20 million purse, one of the richest regular-season stops on the PGA Tour calendar, and added 700 FedExCup points to Fitzpatrick’s season total.
The final round delivered exactly the kind of finish the PGA Tour wants from its signature events. Fitzpatrick and Scheffler ended regulation tied at 18-under 266 before the Englishman closed the deal in extra holes.
Scheffler still walked away with a hefty $2.16 million runner-up payout, while Si Woo Kim finished alone in third at 16-under and earned $1.36 million.
The money dropped quickly after that, but the rewards were still enormous.
Collin Morikawa, Harris English and Ludvig Åberg tied for fourth and each collected $823,333. Bud Cauley earned $665,000 for seventh, and the four players tied for eighth — Rickie Fowler, Kurt Kitayama, Patrick Cantlay and Gary Woodland — each took home $555,000.
That’s what makes these signature events such a huge deal.
A top-10 finish at the RBC Heritage still meant more than half a million dollars in several cases, and even players outside the top 10 left Hilton Head with serious checks.
Keegan Bradley, Matt McCarty, Xander Schauffele and Steven Fisk, for example, each earned $399,250 after tying for 12th.
For Fitzpatrick, though, the week was about far more than the money. Beating the world No. 1 in a playoff at a signature event gave him a marquee victory, another RBC Heritage title, and a momentum boost as the PGA Tour season heads deeper into its biggest stretch.
