TGL expands to seven teams in 2027 as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and golf’s biggest stars return — with Motor City Golf Club joining the party.
TGL isn't the experimental new golf league anymore. Heading into 2027, TGL presented by SoFi is getting bigger, deeper and considerably more interesting.
After launching with six teams in 2025, the tech-driven league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will expand to seven with the arrival of Motor City Golf Club.
They'll join Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links GC, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club.
If you haven't picked a team yet, here's your crash course.
Atlanta Drive GC
Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover give Atlanta a ridiculous amount of experience.
The foursome has combined for 38 PGA Tour victories, and Atlanta became TGL's original champion by capturing the 2025 SoFi Cup. The Drive returned to the playoffs in 2026, establishing themselves as one of the league's most consistently dangerous teams.
Think strategy, putting and knowing exactly when to drop the Hammer.
Boston Common Golf
What a turnaround.
Boston went from winless in 2025 to a 4-1 record and the top spot in the 2026 regular-season standings.
It helps when your lineup includes McIlroy, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama.
That's a roster overflowing with major championships and international experience. Michael Thorbjornsen also became an important contributor as an alternate last season.
Boston's no longer the TGL punching bag. They're a legitimate championship threat.
Jupiter Links GC
This is Team Tiger.
Woods headlines a group featuring Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner, with Akshay Bhatia contributing as an alternate in 2026.
Jupiter's inaugural season was rough, but 2026 changed everything. The club reached the SoFi Cup Finals before losing to Los Angeles.
They're entertaining, unpredictable and now legitimately dangerous.
Los Angeles Golf Club
Everybody's chasing L.A.
Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood powered Los Angeles to the 2026 SoFi Cup, sweeping Jupiter in the Finals.
The championship-clinching performance included three consecutive eagles during a wild comeback.
LAGC enters 2027 with something nobody else has: the title.
Motor City Golf Club
Here's the mystery team.
Detroit's Motor City Golf Club becomes TGL's first expansion franchise in 2027, but there's one rather important detail still missing:
Players.
No official roster has been finalized, making Motor City's eventual signings one of TGL's biggest offseason stories.
New York Golf Club
Star power isn't an issue here.
Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young form one of TGL's most recognizable lineups.
New York reached the inaugural championship series before losing to Atlanta and narrowly missed returning in 2026.
With major champions, Ryder Cup veterans and Young's explosive game, NYGC remains built to win now.
The Bay Golf Club
Want firepower? Start here.
Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee and Shane Lowry give The Bay a fascinating mixture of power, personality and major-championship pedigree.
The club has embraced an aggressive style, while young alternates Luke Clanton and Neal Shipley added even more energy. Shipley also delivered TGL's first competitive hole-in-one, acing the 110-yard Set in Stone.
Seven teams. Four-player rosters. Three golfers playing each match. Every player mic'd up.
And now TGL has something else every growing sports league eventually needs: History, rivalries and a defending champion everyone wants to knock off.
The novelty phase is over. In 2027, TGL gets to show us what it can become.
