Geoff Ogilvy’s International Team blends four rookies with Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama—but one surprise pick could define its upset bid at Medinah.

Geoff Ogilvy has finalized the 2026 International Presidents Cup roster, and he isn’t pretending this is a rebuilding project.

The mission at Medinah is brutally simple: end 28 years of American control.

Corey Conners, Nico Echavarria, Sungjae Im, Ryo Hisatsune, Nick Taylor and Christiaan Bezuidenhout received Ogilvy’s six captain’s picks.

They join automatic qualifiers Si Woo Kim, Ryan Fox, Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim and Adam Scott.

The boldest call is Bezuidenhout.

The South African ranked 18th in the International standings and entered the selection period at No. 96 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

His recent form raised obvious questions, but his Presidents Cup record answers some of them. Bezuidenhout is 3-1-1 across two appearances, collecting 3.5 points from only five matches and winning twice in singles.

That’s a tiny sample, but it’s winning evidence Ogilvy couldn’t ignore.

Taylor is another intriguing choice. The 38-year-old Canadian finally gets his Presidents Cup debut after missing the 2024 event in Montreal.

He finished 13th in the standings and recorded only one top-10 finish this season, yet his history of closing tournaments gives Ogilvy a potential pressure player.

Hisatsune, 23, also debuts after making 23 of 25 cuts and ranking second on the PGA Tour in total birdies. Echavarria joins him among the rookies after capturing his third Tour title earlier this season.

The proven core will have to carry the weight. Im owns a 6-7-2 Presidents Cup record and has played all five sessions in each of his three appearances.

Conners is just 2-7-0, although both victories in 2024 came by commanding margins.

Matsuyama returns for a seventh consecutive Presidents Cup with a 9-13-5 record. Scott will make his 12th appearance, moving past Phil Mickelson’s record of 55 career matches once he tees off at Medinah.

The Australian already owns the International Team record for career points.

Fox, the reigning Open champion, is the fourth rookie. Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim and Min Woo Lee supply aggression, emotion and enough firepower to make the Americans uncomfortable.

But history remains vicious. The International Team’s only victory came at Royal Melbourne in 1998. Since then, it has managed one tie and 10 consecutive losses.

Ogilvy helped redesign Medinah’s Course No. 3. Now he’s betting that familiarity, veteran nerve and four fearless newcomers can finally redesign the scoreboard.
