Brian Rolapp says the PGA Tour is open to LIV Golf return options as PIF exit rumors grow and Brooks Koepka leads the early wave back.
PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp isn’t closing the door on more LIV Golf players coming back. In fact, he made it clear Monday that the tour is already looking at what a return path could look like if the Saudi-backed league’s future changes.
Appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rolapp said the PGA Tour is monitoring the same LIV Golf headlines everyone else is seeing after reports suggested Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund may be reconsidering its long-term financial commitment.
“We’re thinking about it. We are reading all the same headlines you’re reading,” Rolapp said. “We don’t know what’s going on over there. We know those guys are under contract, we’ll respect that.”
The biggest example so far is Brooks Koepka, who became the first high-profile LIV player to officially return to the PGA Tour in early 2026.
“Brooks came back to the tour because he made a phone call and said, ‘Look, I’m out of my contract and I want to come back,’” Rolapp said.
Koepka’s move came through the PGA Tour’s Returning Member Program, which also targeted Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith. Those stars stayed with LIV for 2026.
Patrick Reed has taken a different route. After winning the Dubai Desert Classic and playing without a LIV contract, Reed committed to the DP World Tour with hopes of returning to the PGA Tour in 2027. He currently sits No. 1 in the Race to Dubai.
LIV CEO Scott O’Neil pushed back on collapse talk, writing, “Our season continues exactly as planned, uninterrupted and at full throttle.”
Still, O’Neil also told TNT Sports, “The reality is you’re funded through the season, and then you work like crazy as a business to create a business and a business plan to keep us going.”
Rolapp even credited LIV’s impact.
“Competition makes you better,” he said. “In a lot of ways, I think LIV did the professional golf world a favor.”
