The International Team carries a stunning 7-3 Presidents Cup lead into Saturday, putting Scottie Scheffler and the Americans under immediate pressure.
The 2026 Presidents Cup suddenly looks nothing like the matchup the United States expected.
After the International Team swept all five Foursomes matches Friday at Medinah Country Club, a 3-2 American advantage disappeared into a commanding 7-3 International lead.
Now Brandt Snedeker’s U.S. Team enters Saturday’s morning Four-ball session needing to stop the bleeding before another round of Foursomes arrives in the afternoon.
The first opportunity comes at 8:02 a.m. ET when Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun face Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im. Thomas and Koivun already delivered a 4-and-3 Four-ball victory Thursday, and Snedeker will need that combination to produce again.
Lee, meanwhile, summed up the International momentum after Friday’s sweep.
“We saw a lot of gold on the leaderboard, so it was quite nice to have that backing,” Lee said.
The second match sends Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark against Si Woo Kim and Tom Kim. The Korean duo has been one of Geoff Ogilvy’s most dependable pairings, winning together in each of the first two sessions.
Morikawa and Clark won Thursday but couldn’t keep that momentum going Friday.
At 8:38 a.m., Chris Gotterup and Cameron Young meet Canadians Nick Taylor and Corey Conners. Taylor and Conners provided one of Friday’s biggest punches by defeating Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns, 1-up.
That sets up the morning anchor.
Scheffler and Burns will get another chance together against Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune. The American stars won Thursday before falling Friday and now carry even more pressure with the U.S. staring at a four-point deficit.
The mathematics are getting uncomfortable quickly. There are 20 points still available entering Saturday, but the International Team needs only 8.5 more to reach the winning total of 15.5.
The Americans don’t necessarily have to dominate Saturday morning.
They do, however, need to make sure another wave of International gold doesn’t bury them before lunch.
