Rory McIlroy captured a second straight Masters title at 12-under, holding off Scottie Scheffler to win his sixth major and make Augusta history.

Rory McIlroy delivered another unforgettable Masters win on Sunday, surviving a wild final round at Augusta National to claim his second straight green jacket and sixth career major championship.

With the victory, McIlroy joined one of golf’s most exclusive clubs, becoming only the fourth player to win back-to-back Masters titles.

For much of the weekend, it looked like McIlroy might cruise.

He carried a massive six-shot advantage into the final two rounds, but Augusta never lets anyone breathe easy for long.

The leaderboard tightened, Cameron Young made a serious push, and Justin Rose briefly climbed into the top spot as the pressure mounted across the back nine.

That’s when McIlroy found the shot that changed everything.

Standing on the 12th tee with the tournament hanging in the balance, McIlroy hit the kind of iron shot that gets replayed at Augusta for years.

He stuffed it inside seven feet on one of the course’s most dangerous holes, then poured in the birdie putt to move to 12-under and steady himself for the closing stretch.

Even then, there was still late drama. McIlroy nearly gave everyone one more twist when his tee shot on the 18th found trouble, but he managed to avoid disaster and close out the win by a single stroke.

Scottie Scheffler made things tense with a hard-charging finish after beginning the weekend 12 shots back, but he ultimately ran out of holes.

McIlroy’s final total of 12-under was just enough to slam the door and etch his name even deeper into Masters history.

The victory gives McIlroy six majors, tying him with Lee Trevino, Nick Faldo and Phil Mickelson on the all-time list.

More importantly, it cements what once felt uncertain: he’s no longer battling Augusta’s ghosts. He owns a piece of the place now.

From heartbreak to history, McIlroy’s transformation at the Masters is complete. And with two straight green jackets in his closet, the legend only keeps growing.
