Rory McIlroy’s second straight Masters win gives him six majors and cements his place among golf’s all-time greats, with more history still ahead.
Rory McIlroy’s back-to-back Masters titles have done more than add another green jacket to his closet. They’ve pushed the Northern Irish star into a new tier of golf history.
With his latest win at Augusta National, McIlroy now owns six major championships, matching Nick Faldo for the most by any European man.
More importantly, he’s now one of only a handful of players ever to win the Masters in consecutive years, joining a tiny club that already included Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. That kind of company says everything.
What makes McIlroy’s latest Augusta triumph even more impressive is the bigger picture.
His first major came at the 2011 U.S. Open, and this newest one arrives 15 years later, a reminder of just how long he’s remained elite in a sport that rarely gives anyone that kind of staying power.
Plenty of legends piled up majors in shorter bursts. McIlroy has done it across different eras of his life and career.
That longevity matters. So does the way he’s won. He’s now completed the career Grand Slam, defended a Masters title, and continued building a resume that already includes a massive win total on American soil.
His victory over Scottie Scheffler by one shot only added to the drama and the weight of the moment.
McIlroy also doesn’t sound like someone ready to slow down. With his 37th birthday approaching, he made it clear this milestone isn’t the finish line.
That should be a warning to the rest of the golf world.
Whether he adds another major or several more, McIlroy’s place is already secure.
He’s no longer just one of the best players of his generation. After another Masters win and major No. 6, Rory McIlroy has a serious case as the greatest European golfer ever ... and one of the most accomplished players the game has ever seen.
