Scottie Scheffler fired a 64 at the RBC Heritage to climb into solo second at 14-under, setting up a Sunday showdown with leader Matt Fitzpatrick.
Scottie Scheffler is right where golf fans expected him to be at the RBC Heritage ... squarely in the hunt on Sunday.
The world No. 1 made his move with a blistering 8-under 64 in the third round at Harbour Town Golf Links, climbing to 14-under-par and grabbing solo second heading into the final round.
Scheffler started the day seven shots behind but erased most of that gap in a hurry with a red-hot opening stretch that flipped the tournament.
That kind of charge matters, especially at a Signature Event where every shot against a field like this carries extra weight.
Scheffler’s round wasn’t built on one flashy moment. It was a steady, surgical climb, powered by early birdies, sharp recovery play, and the kind of poise that has made him one of the PGA TOUR’s toughest closers.
Even in a season where his iron play hasn’t quite looked like its usual dominant self, Scheffler still found a way to post one of the best scores of the day.
Now he heads into Sunday trailing Matt Fitzpatrick by three shots, with Fitzpatrick sitting at 17-under after another composed round at Harbour Town.
That pairing gives the final group plenty of star power, and it also sets up a compelling contrast in style between two former champions on a course that demands patience, precision, and smart misses.
Scheffler already knows how to win here. He captured the RBC Heritage title in 2024, and that experience could matter late in the day if conditions get firmer and the wind starts to swirl.
Still, he’ll have company in the chase. Si Woo Kim, Sepp Straka, and Brian Harman are all just one shot behind Scheffler at 13-under.
After a runner-up finish at the Masters, Scheffler has another chance to turn a close call into a trophy.
