Scottie Scheffler opens as the 2027 Masters favorite ahead of Rory McIlroy, even after McIlroy’s latest Augusta victory and second straight green jacket.

The 2027 Masters odds didn’t take long to hit the board, and the early betting picture is already giving golf fans something to argue about.

Even after Rory McIlroy won at Augusta National again, it’s Scottie Scheffler who has opened as the betting favorite for next year’s Masters.

That says plenty about where men’s golf stands right now.

Scheffler and McIlroy have separated themselves from the rest of the sport, and the numbers back it up. Between them, they’ve claimed four of the last five major championships, turning the race for golf’s biggest trophies into a two-man showdown more often than not.

McIlroy now owns six career major titles after his latest Masters win, while Scheffler remains right on his heels with four and has been one of the steadiest major performers in the world.

According to the opening market, Scheffler sits at +430 to win the 2027 Masters, with McIlroy just behind at +550. Jon Rahm follows at +1200, while Bryson DeChambeau is listed at +1400.

Ludvig Aberg, Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young all opened at +1800, keeping them in the next tier of contenders.

The case for Scheffler is easy to understand. He may have come up just short this time at Augusta, but his form in major championships has been remarkably consistent.

He’s finished tied for seventh or better in six straight majors and has been inside the top 10 in each of his last five Masters appearances. That kind of track record is gold for oddsmakers.

McIlroy, of course, is chasing history now. Winning a third straight Masters would put him in territory no player has ever reached.

Even some of golf’s greatest names couldn’t pull that off after going back-to-back at Augusta.

So yes, McIlroy has the momentum. But as the 2027 Masters market opens, Scheffler still has the edge.
