Angels' Prospect Arjun Nimmala To Play In AFL Fall Stars Game
Nov 4, 2026 10:01 PM

It's the latest highlight in a chaotic season that has seen the highly regarded Los Angeles shortstop prospect play for six teams, two organizations and call two countries and four states home.

Between starting the 2026 season in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as a Toronto Blue Jays' farmhand and wrapping it up in Mesa, AZ, representing the Los Angeles Angels as a member of the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League, shortstop prospect Arjun Nimmala, through Nov. 3, has played a total of 107 games and called five cities, four states and two countries in four different time zones home.

So, what's one more game on top of that jet-lag-inducing itinerary?

That's what he'll get on Sunday as Nimmala, who's rated the No. 34 overall prospect in the game by MLB Pipeline, was chosen on Wednesday as one of seven infielders to represent the American League team in the annual Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game, which will be played at 5 p.m. PT and broadcast live on the MLB Network.

What is most noteworthy about Nimmala's chaotic season, aside from the fact that it would be a worthy sequel to "Around the World in Eighty Days" - let's call it "Around the Minors in Seven Months" - is that he unequivocally deserves the honor.

After hitting a combined .263 with 16 home runs, 27 doubles, 51 RBIs and an .864 OPS despite the upheaval of changing organizations in mid-season and keeping the addresses straight for five different apartments, Nimmala has continued to rake in the AFL.

Just last week, he recorded a five-hit game for the Solar Sox and for the season he is batting .301 with a .953 OPS courtesy of two home runs, five doubles and two triples in 92 plate appearances with 13 RBIs and four stolen bases thrown in and a walk-to-strikeout rate of 17-21. He was also named the AFL's "Hitter of the Week" for Oct. 12-17 after going 6-for-11 (.545) with two doubles, two triples, three RBIs and five runs scored over three games.

With a little luck, Nimmala will have some Angels' company on the AL Fall Star team. On Wednesday, it was announced that third baseman Jake Munroe was one of three AL players eligible to be added to the squad via the "Final 2" voting system. Vote HERE to send Munroe to the game.

Munroe, the Angels' No. 20 prospect, did produce what should be a pretty convincing final argument for voters on Tuesday when he collected three hits, including a two-run homer, with three RBIs for Mesa.

For the AFL season, Munroe is hitting .267 for the Solar Sox with an .899 OPS, seven runs scored, two home runs, four doubles, 13 RBIs and a sterling walk-to-strikeout ratio of 12-10.

"Final 2" voting concludes on Friday at 5 p.m. PT.
