Bob Melvin rejoins Athletics

Guess who's back, Athletics fans? Bob Melvin.

On Thursday, the Athletics announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Melvin will take on the role of special assistant for baseball operations.

Melvin finished up two less-than-impressive seasons as manager of the San Francisco Giants in 2025. The Giants finished 81-81 and in third place in the National League West Division.

Melvin spent 11 seasons as Athletics manager, leading the team to four 90-plus-win seasons in his tenure. In 2021, Melvin led the team to an 86-76 record, but was let go. 

Now, he's coming back in the hopes of helping the franchise get back into winning form.
