Matt Krook DFA'd

According to the MLB Transactions page, Jose Suarez is back from the paternity list. The veteran left-hander was placed there on June 29.

To make room for Suarez on the active roster, the A's designated left-hander Matt Krook for assignment.

Krook spent a brief stint with the A's in 2025 as well, from May 16-21, appearing in three games — one in San Francisco against the Giants and two at home in Sacramento against the Angels.

This season he was back on a minor-league deal, and made five total appearances. The first was at home against the Angels yet again, followed by two more on the road in San Francisco. He then switched things up a bit, facing the Angels on the road.

His final appearance came on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Across those five outings with the A's in 2026 he posted a 17.18 ERA spanning 3 ⅔ innings.
