Heading into 2026, the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the best teams in the major leagues, and they'll be regarded as a World Series favorite when Opening Day comes around on March 26.
But while the major league roster is stacked with high-priced talent, at the minor league level Toronto is generally poorly regarded, with most of its impact prospects very young and years away from the big leagues.
Last week, Baseball America and MLB Pipeline both said the Jays have three prospects in the Top 100, but when Trey Yesavage drops off the list early on in the new campaign, that will fall to two.
With not many blue chippers in the system, Toronto's player development group will need to work hard to get some under-the-radar names to the surface.
Baseball America listed three potential possibilities for 2026 breakouts on Monday: Pitcher Silvano Hechavarria, infielder Tim Piasentin and outfielder Jake Casey.
Here's what you need to know:
Baseball America ranks him as the No. 12 prospect in the organization after he spent the 2025 campaign at a combination of Rookie Ball, Single-A Dunedin and High-A Vancouver. He made 11 appearances at Single-A, which was his most at any level. In total, he went 5-2 with a 2.28 ERA. Now 22 years old, he struck out 82 batters in 86.2 innings.
Best guess is he begins the year at High-A before moving up to Double-A eventually.
Ranked No. 15 at Baseball America, he was ranked No. 20 by MLB Pipeline at the conclusion of 2025. Just 18 years old, he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 draft and did not appear in a game after getting drafted. As a result, he figures to start the 2025 season at Single-A, and he'll probably stay there for a good majority of the year. He's 6'3 already and is loaded with power from the left side of the plate.
Ranked No. 21 by Baseball America, Casey is the son of former big league All-Star Sean Casey. Drafted in the 15th round of the MLB Draft in 2025, he played his college baseball at Kent State. He played 23 games at Dunedin after the draft, hitting three home runs and driving in 14. He also had three doubles, two triples and an impressive .439 on-base percentage.
The Blue Jays signed former Red Sox pitcher Connor Seabold to a minor league deal. He'll get an invite to spring training.
