The situation surrounding the Toronto Blue Jays and superstar free agent Bo Bichette is a confounding one, to say the least.
Bichette, 27, spent the 2025 season talking about how much he loves Toronto and how he wants to be back. The organization, in turn, sung his praises and said after the season that they will "be in his market.". After a trip to Game 7 of the World Series, it seemed as if a reunion would not be that difficult to execute.
But with just five weeks until spring training, nothing has happened yet, even as Toronto has spent big on other parts of the roster. The Blue Jays have added pitchers Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, and Tyler Rogers, as well as Japanese infielder Kazuma Okamoto.
They surely have the money for Bichette, but there are now questions about how he would fit on the roster, and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic even said he finds a reunion "increasingly unlikely."
With all that being said, at least one entity is trying to take the Bichette situation into its own hands.
Animl, one of the top steakhouses in Toronto, has offered Bichette free dinner for life if he stays North of the Border.

"Dear Bo Bichette,
Toronto suits you. The city, the energy, the fans - it all feels right, much like a perfectly cooked steak. At Animl, we believe in commitments that last -- the craft, the care, and the city we call home. In that spirt, we ask you to re-sign with the Toronto Blue Jays -- and consider this our promise: Steak for life on us. No negotiations. No fine print. Just a standing reservation at our table. Stay in Toronto. We'll handle dinner. You bring home the hardware."
Now, that's certainly a tough offer to turn down, but right now, it may not even be Bichette's decision to make. We've raised this question a few times and it's worth raising again: Do the Blue Jays even want Bichette back at this point?
They've had chances to bring him back and they had a positional opening at second base, but instead they've opted to bring in Okamoto and spend in other places. They also continue to be linked to Kyle Tucker, which further complicates things for Bichette.
If not Toronto, the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs have reportedly shown interest in his services.
Here's hoping there aren't high-end steakhouses in Boston in Chicago.... At least not ones as good as Animl.
