Devon White won five Gold Glove Awards with Toronto.
Congratulations are in order for former Toronto Blue Jays star Devon White, who earned election to Canada's Baseball Hall of Fame on Thursday alongside a distinguished group of other electees.
As noted by the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum on social media, White is joined by Jim Baba, Stubby Clapp, Kate Psota, Paul Runge and Bill Stoneman.
About Devon White
A 17-year veteran of the California Angels, Blue Jays, Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers, White was an excellent player, earning three All-Star appearances and winning seven Gold Gloves. A World Series champion with the Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993, he won five of his Gold Glove Awards with the Jays.
Speaking of the Jays' World Series teams, we just learned that Toronto is going to put up a commemorative statue outside Rogers Centre in July of this year. Joe Carter, who hit a walk-off homer in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series, will be the statue.
Back to White, he hit .270 in his five years with Toronto, popping 72 home runs and stealing 126 bases. A true speedster, he also hit 34 triples.
Other Blue Jays news and notes
--The World Baseball Classic rosters officially come out at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday. The Blue Jays already have multiple players committed, but there could be some previously unreported players suiting up as well.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Kazuma Okamoto, Yariel Rodriguez, Ernie Clement and Alejandro Kirk are all playing. Jose Berrios is trying to but is dealing with insurance issues. Berrios has represented Puerto Rico in the WBC before, but his injury history makes him an apparent insurance risk this time around.
--The Blue Jays reportedly had interest in left-hander Framber Valdez before he signed with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night. It's a three-year deal for Valdez worth more than $110 million. The Jays did come to terms with a left-hander themselves, Josh Fleming, who most Jays fans remember as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.
--The Blue Jays released an awesome promotional giveaway schedule for the 2026 campaign on Wednesday and we detailed the full slate here. It's full of bobbleheads, AL champion swag and fun historic things to tie in the 50th season in franchise history.
