Votto made the comments to Josh Donaldson, who was a star on that team.

Speaking on a podcast appearance on Wednesday, former National League MVP Joey Votto called the 2015 Toronto Blue Jays the most entertaining team he's ever seen.

Votto was speaking with former American League MVP Josh Donaldson and singled out the star power of Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Russell Martin and he added Troy Tulowitzki as well. Votto said that team caused him to stop in his tracks every single time he saw them.

Of course, Votto played during interleague play, but the "balanced schedule" was not in play in 2015, so Votto didn't get to regularly see all the American League teams in person.

About the 2015 Blue Jays

The Jays went 93-69 this season, winning the American League East under manager John Gibbons.  This version of the Jays was a powerful offensive team that got 41 homers and a league-best 123 RBIs from Donaldson, as well as 40 homers and 114 RBIs from Bautista. Encarnacion hit 39 homers and drove in 111.

Bautista also led the league in walks. Mark Buehrle won 15 games and Marco Estrada won 13 on the pitching side of things. A young Marcus Stroman went 4-0 and future All-Star Liam Hendriks went 5-0 out of the bullpen.

David Price was acquired at the trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers, going 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 11 outings.

The Blue Jays rallied from 2-0 down in the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers before losing against the Kansas City Royals in the American League Championship Series.

That ALDS win was punctuated by the famous Bautista "bat flip" in Game 5.

The Royals went onto to win the World Series by beating the New York Mets. Toronto also went to the ALCS in 2016 but was defeated by Cleveland, who went onto lose to the Chicago Cubs in the World Series.

Up next for the current Jays?

Like all of us, the Blue Jays are watching the playoffs and waiting for the offseason to officially begin. Players will become free agents the day after the World Series ends and free agency will begin five days after the World Series ends.

Of course, business is likely to be halted when the MLB lockout takes hold on Dec. 2, but it's business as usual until then.

The Blue Jays have several players that will hit free agency.
