With just six weeks until spring training, it's time to take stock of the Blue Jays roster.

Now that we are on the other side of the New Years holiday, it's time to take stock of where the Toronto Blue Jays are roster-wise.

After getting to Game 7 of the World Series in 2025, the Jays are already one of the strongest teams on paper entering 2026, but they do have some very real questions that need to be answered.

And of course, those questions center around possible resolutions for Bo Bichette, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman at the moment. So, let's take a deeper dive.

    How does the outfield look?

Incomplete, which is why the Blue Jays need to figure out how the three players above fit in.

As of now, the Jays have some options, but they aren't necessarily great options.

The team could play Daulton Varsho, George Springer and Anthony Santander in the outfield, but that would leave two poor defenders exposed. They could have Myles Straw start in the outfield, but they'd have a poor offensive player exposed. The same is true for Joey Loperfido. Nathan Lukes could play out there, as he did a lot of 2025, but there's no guarantee that he repeats his solid breakout campaign.

The team could have Addison Barger in right field, which is an excellent defensive move, but it leads to questions in the infield.

Does Okamoto fit with Blue Jays?

    About that infield...

Well, if Barger is at third base, then that probably means Ernie Clement is at second, so is there room for Bichette or Bregman, or even Yoan Moncada or Kazuma Okamoto?

If Barger is in right field, there's an opening, so would the Jays want to put Clement at third and sign a second baseman? Or are they OK with Clement at second and bringing in a third baseman?

    The cleanest move

The cleanest move really does seem to be signing Bichette and letting him play second while keeping Clement at third. This puts Barger in right with Varsho and one of Springer/Santander. One of them can play DH and then Straw and Lukes can potentially both be bench options, or maybe Loperfido slides into the mix. Jonatan Clase is an option as well.

    About the rotation

Well, that's fairly obvious: Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Cody Ponce and Dylan Cease are the five. The bullpen is more unsettled, with several pitchers likely battling for one available spot.
