Clement is the Blue Jays' representative for the "Heart and Hustle Award."
Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement is up for the prestigious "Heart & Hustle Award," and Jays fans can vote for him until Nov. 2 at noon ET.
The award is presented on Nov. 6.
As noted by MLB.com, the award "is voted on by Major League alumni and active players, and is presented annually to a player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game."
The link to vote is in that hyperlink above.
Clement is certainly a good choice for the award. A hard worker who has persevered throughout his career, he's become a fan favorite in Toronto. He even became the team's full-time second baseman in 2026 after Bo Bichette left for the New York Mets in free agency.
About Ernie Clement
A 30-year-old native of Rochester, N.Y., who will turn 31 in March, is a six-year veteran of the Cleveland Guardians, Oakland Athletics and Blue Jays.
He's found a home with Toronto over the last four years, playing 139 games or more in each of the last three. He's hit .270 with the Jays, popping 31 home runs, and he had a generational run in the playoffs in 2025, hitting .411 with six doubles in 18 games. His 30 hits are the most ever in a single postseason, and he did that with Toronto not even playing in the wild card round. He was a huge reason why the Blue Jays were able to beat the Seattle Mariners in the ALCS and take the Los Angeles Dodgers to seven games in the World Series.

Kevin Sousa-Imagn ImagesThis season was a different story, to a degree. He hit .259 with nine home runs and 48 RBIs, which is OK on its own, but it came with a .285 on-base percentage, a 78 OPS+ and a 44.4 percent chase rate, which was in the 2nd percentile, per Baseball Savant.
We mentioned Clement being likable: He started the All-Star Game for the American League based upon Blue Jays fans filling the online ballot box, and he also represented Team USA at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The Americans were beaten in the championship game by Venezuela.
About Clement's future
The Blue Jays have already indicated that Clement isn't guaranteed to start every day for them in 2027. As a result, we've started looking at alternative options, including the idea of trading for one of the Miami Marlins infielders, or even signing one of the top free agent infielders.
