Fresh off the sting of losing in Game 7 of the World Series, the Blue Jays are reportedly set to continue to invest in the roster.

According to a recent piece from Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Toronto Blue Jays could be the leader in the clubhouse this offseason for free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker.

They just earned an extra $50 million or so in revenue from their World Series run. They’ll put it right back into the team and could be the favorite for Kyle Tucker.

Now, Nightengale also said that rival general manager's think the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants will be in the mix, but he added "don't be surprised if the Blue Jays are the perfect fit."

    About Tucker

Set to turn 29 years old before the start of next season, Tucker has been one of the best offensive players in the league for years now. Though he battled injury in 2025, he still hit .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs and 25 stolen bases for the Chicago Cubs in 136 games.

A lifetime .273 hitter with 147 homers, he's also an excellent defender. A four-time All-Star, he's won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger as well. He helped the Astros win the 2022 World Series.

    About the money

Tucker is predicted to get anywhere between $350-500 million this offseason, depending on who you ask.

As for what the Blue Jays have available? Well, the playoff revenue helps, and it also helps that Kevin Gausman and George Springer come off the payroll for the 2027 season.

That said, the Jays still have a ton of money invested in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Anthony Santander and Andres Gimenez. Don't forget that they also (seemingly) want to bring Bo Bichette back in free agency, which will be another massive nine-figure deal.

    How about the fit?

It would be a bit clunky, at least for a year, but the Jays could likely figure out how to make it work. Springer and Santander are not highly-regarded outfielders but one of them will have to play the field while the other serves as designated hitter. Springer could be gone after 2026 because of his contract situation, negating that issue moving forward.

That would leave Tucker, Daulton Varsho and Addison Barger potentially in the outfield, which would be a very solid defensive trio.

    How about the timing?

The general manager's meetings begin this week in Las Vegas, so you could see some groundwork laid for big deals there, but the real dominoes likely won't start to fall until the winter meetings, which take place from Dec. 7-10 in Orlando, Fla.
