According to a new report from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Toronto Blue Jays are still viewed as the favorite for slugging outfielder Kyle Tucker. It's been a slow free agency for Tucker, who has been linked to Toronto since the outset of the offseason, but we really haven't heard much about his conversations with anyone at this point - and there are just six weeks until spring training begins.
Per Feinsand:
Toronto remains the favorite to land Tucker, sources said, though the Mets can’t be counted out, given their need for outfield help and their general willingness to spend big when they feel it’s appropriate. If the Yankees are prepared to spend big, it’s likely going to be for Cody Bellinger (more on him later) rather than Tucker.
If the Blue Jays do sign Tucker, there will be a profound impact across the roster, so let's take a closer look.
Set to turn 29 years old before the start of next season, Tucker has been one of the best offensive players in the league for years now. Though he battled injury in 2025, he still hit .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs and 25 stolen bases for the Chicago Cubs in 136 games. He helped the Cubs to a second-place finish in the National League Central and an appearance in the playoffs.
A lifetime .273 hitter with 147 homers, he's also an excellent defender. A four-time All-Star, he's won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger as well. He helped the Houston Astros win the 2022 World Series.
If Tucker does sign with the Blue Jays, he figures to play right field with Daulton Varsho in center. This would leave one of George Springer and Anthony Santander to play left field and the other to play in the DH spot.

Taking a Look at Toronto Blue Jays Roster Questions
Jays make interesting decision with recent signing
Well, this would likely force Addison Barger to third base and Ernie Clement to second. In that case, there likely wouldn't be any room for Bo Bichette, which could end his run in Toronto.
Well, Springer is a free agent in 2027, as is Varsho, so Tucker could play center field if the Jays wanted. They could also send Barger back to right field moving forward if there's an infielder they desire next offseason.
The Blue Jays have plenty of money, and they don't seem too worried about going over the competitive balance tax threshold. Springer and Kevin Gausman coming off the books in 2027 should help alleviate some concerns as well.
