Congratulations are in order for Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Nolan Perry, who is up for a significant minor league award.
With the minor league regular season now over, it's onto the championship rounds of the playoffs - and the award season.
Perry, a right-handed hurler, is one of three finalists for the "Breakout Player of the Year" award, set to be announced on Sept. 28.
He's up against Atlanta Braves outfielder Eric Hartman and San Francisco Giants pitcher Ramon Marquez.

Ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the organization behind JoJo Parker (MLB Pipeline), Perry is also the No. 94 prospect in the MLB Pipeline Top 100.
Listed at 6-foot-2, he was a 12th-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2022 MLB Draft out of the New Mexico high school ranks. He missed all of 2025 with injury but rebounded excellently this season, posting a 3-4 record and a 2.50 ERA in 21 appearances (20 starts). He appeared in five games at Single-A Dunedin and seven games at High-A Vancouver before finishing up with nine appearances at Double-A New Hampshire. He had a 2.32 ERA in nine appearances for the FisherCats.
In total, he struck out 117 batters in 82.2 innings. Opposing hitters hit just .181 against him across all three levels.
He represented the Blue Jays at the MLB Futures Game, along with Parker. He's projected to make his major league debut next year.
As for the Blue Jays in the big leagues
The Blue Jays will kick off a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night at Camden Yards. Essentially every game is a must-win from here on out, as Toronto trails the Chicago White Sox by effectively four games with six games to play in the regular season.
Right-hander Trey Yesavage will make his first start in more than a month as he returns from knee surgery. It's unclear how long he'll be able to go. He's 5-5 with a 3.65 ERA this season.
The Orioles, also with minuscule playoff chances, will send Shane Baz to the mound. He's 6-15 with a 4.11 ERA.
In other news, the Blue Jays will not have Cy Young contender Dylan Cease start on Wednesday as scheduled. He's battling arm fatigue and had an MRI in Toronto over the weekend. Cease is likely to finish second in the Cy Young voting to Cam Schlittler of the New York Yankees.
