The former World Series champion earned his first Silver Slugger since joining the Blue Jays

One of the most prolific hitters on the American League champions, the Toronto Blue Jays, earned the third Silver Slugger award of his career on Friday.

Designated hitter/outfielder George Springer was named the AL's Silver Slugger award for the designated hitter position. He was a Silver Slugger finalist as both an outfielder and DH.

Springer's third career Silver Slugger is his first since joining the Blue Jays in 2021. Springer's previous two Silver Sluggers both came with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Each year Springer has won a Silver Slugger, the team he was playing for made the World Series. The Astros won the World Series in 2017.

Springer was one of the most prolific hitters on Toronto, which won its first pennant since 1993, when it won the second of back-to-back World Series titles.

Springer scored 106 runs in 140 games and hit 27 doubles, a triple and 32 home runs with 84 RBIs. He stole 18 bases in 19 attempts and slashed .309/.399/.560 with a .959 OPS.

In the postseason, Springer scored 14 times in 16 games and hit six doubles and four homers with 10 RBIs. He slashed .284/.347/.552 with an .899 OPS.

Springer hit the go-ahead three-run home run in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners to sent the Blue Jays to the World Series. Toronto won the game 4-3.

Springer, who will turn 36-years-old next season, will enter the final year of a six-year, $150 million contract with the Blue Jays before the 2021 season. He received a $50,000 bonus for winning the Silver Slugger award. 2026 will be the 13th season of Springer's major league career.
